Mini 7s format:
As you may already have heard the national Mini 7s structure has been totally changed. There is no longer a provincial festival for selecting the players who will represent counties on the big championship days in Croke Park. The decision on how players are selected is to be left to each county committee of Cumann na mBunscol.
Cumann na mBunscol Dhún na nGall has decided, initially, to hold trials for boys and girls on a divisional basis. Divisional reps are in the process of organising the venues for these blitzes. 10 boys and 10 girls from each division will be selected on these days to go to the county blitz to represent their divisional team. Representatives for the Mini 7s events in Croke Park will be chosen from this county blitz along with representatives for the Ulster Senior Football final in Clones. Please note the rules on dates of birth below.
What you are being asked to do:
Each affiliated school is invited to send 1 boy and 1 girl to represent their school at these divisional trials.
If you wish to enter children in the divisional trials you must email their names, date of births & division to email@example.com.
** Please take careful note of the date of birth of the children you plan to send because he/she must be within the dates setout on the attached form according to the size of your school.
What will happen next?
As soon as the closing date has passed, the committee will meet to review numbers of children entered and make arrangements for the holding of regional trials. When the arrangements have been made your divisional rep will be in touch with the details. It is hoped to have the regional trials and county blitz after school on a week day.
A maximum one boy per school will be allowed through to the county blitz and obviously there is no guarantee that any of your players will be chosen.
At the county blitz day, each child will be play with his divisional team. Every effort will be made to give children a run in a variety of positions.
